We assume the reader is trans, we don’t make any attempts to appeal to cis people and the only thing we care about when it comes to what we cover is: “will this be of benefit to our audience?”
This whole thing is made in some peoples bedrooms. We will never do ads and never chase clicks for any reason other than if we think you need to see what we have going on.
We don’t speak for trans people. We try to speak to them.
If we fuck up, contact us, we will try not to be dicks about it.
Who the hell do you think you are?
Fine, this is who we are:
Ashleigh is an activist, “media queer” and musician, formerly of bands like ded.pixel and St Lucifer. She started volunteering with groups like the LGBT Foundation and Action for Trans Health soon after she came out as trans in 2012. She first got involved with the media thanks to a short monthly slot on BBC Radio Manchester from 2014. This led to becoming a regular producer and host on Manchester’s local freeview station, including on That’s Pride, a show focused on LGBTQ+ people and issues. In 2018, she and Michelle Snow started What the Trans?! to amplify trans people and stories. And the rest, as they say…was an astonishing amount of work and online vitriol.
Alyx is an activist, a journalist, photographer and prop queen of What The Trans?!. After a long time of making bad minecraft videos, she changed things up a bit and she started covering the trans beat in 2022 after making a video on a conversion therapy protest. She then joined What The Trans after interviewing Michelle in Alyx’s own video!
You will pretty much spot her at any pride or protest event running around with a gigantic camera madly taking photos at everything.
Hi! I’m Kristina, and I have been reporting on protests, as well as making short form video and managing the social media for What The Trans?! since late 2025. Flint has been deeply vexed about the “current state of affairs” ever since he first learnt what a Tory was at age 5. In January 2024 he saw a tweet from What The Trans asking for volunteers and decided to put that vexation to good use. He is now a Writer/Producer/Host consistently, a live reporter occasionally, and as you can tell from this bio, he knows how to pad a wordcount. He hitches his horse to a post labelled “Genderqueer transmasc”, while recognising his true gender is the chaos made along the way.
Like most cryptids of his kind, he is most likely to be sighted near the beaches and Sound Systems of NorthEast England, swaddled in green.
Sammi joined the What The Trans?! team in late 2024, and currently contributes to the writing and researching of the podcast. Quietly passionate about all sort of things, her favourite instruction manuals are the ones with recipes in.
